Hyattsville’s Own Synthpop Duo: Ploy

“Get Lucky” might be the song of the Olympics right now, but Hyattsville has its own synthpop duo, Ploy. Above is their song, “VRDSNT.”

The Hyattsville Wire is becoming huge fans. Their music is catchy and very danceable.

Here’s an excerpt from a review in the Washington City Paper from September 2013 about the band:

If D.C. is in the midst of a synthpop renaissance, Hyattsville’s Ploy sits at the forefront. The slick duo, formed only last year, has progressively sharpened its ability to sculpt a big, sad love song—the most powerful weapon in any synthpop band’s arsenal. But it’s a song from the band’s early days that best distills its knack for heartachey earworms:
