Washingtonian magazine’s first ever neighborhood guide on Hyattsville, Riverdale Park and College Park is now online.

Several months ago, D.C.’s premier lifestyle magazine tapped the Hyattsville Wire to write the eight-page briefing which was featured in the February 2020 issue, “100 Very Best Restaurants,” the publication’s most popular issue of the year.

The briefing, as it’s called, is part of an in-depth regular series on local hotspots which the magazine has published on areas like Arlington, Bethesda, Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Navy Yard, Silver Spring, and NoMa.

The guide, written by Hyattsville Wire founding editor Alison Beckwith, covers the craft alcohol boom in Hyattsville, the growth and expansion of the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail connecting the three cities, the new hip restaurants popping up in Riverdale Park, the coming Purple Line and the half billion dollars’ worth of development planned in College Park.

Incidentally, separate from the guide, the Route 1 corridor made the magazine’s cover story as well, with College Park’s Northwest Chinese Food clocking in at #93 on the very best restaurants list that includes the likes of the Inn at Little Washington and Rose’s Luxury.

“Every time we head to this cafe, an ode to the fire-and-vinegar-stoked cuisine of China’s Shanxi Province, we find something new to obsess over,” the editors write.

The online version of the guide is slightly different than the print edition, following the format of the Washingtonian’s 15 other neighborhood briefings.

Be sure to check out the guide online here.
