Hyattsville Mayor Candace Hollingsworth will be on “The Kojo Nnamdi Show” at noon Monday, Nov. 23, to discuss her new political organization.

Hollingsworth announced earlier this month that she will be resigning her position to focus her energy on a new political party she helped form over the summer, Our Black Party.

“Leading this city as its mayor for the last nearly six years has been, indeed, the best job I never knew I wanted,” she wrote in a Nov. 10 post on Facebook. “Unfortunately, I must let go to make room for the work I feel pulled toward.”

Hollingsworth has said that Our Black Party was started to pass policies and elect public officials that will improve the quality of life for African-Americans.

The group has a nine-point pledge that includes principles like health  and educational equity and a fair and just criminal justice system.
