Amid a pandemic and an economic downturn, we put together the most-read stories on the Hyattsville Wire in 2020.

A look back at the top stories this year showed that the past, whether in the form of nostalgia or a reckoning, was top of mind. Here are our five most popular stories starting with the most-read.

Owners Look to Sell Ledo in College Park, Retire. The landmark local restaurant, which once served the likes of Yogi Berra and Joe Namath, closed in November, and will reopen under new ownership sometime next year.

New Covid-19 Restrictions in Prince George’s County. Local restaurants and shops faced restrictions as coronavirus cases spiked countywide, with a wave of new infections coming right in the crucial holiday season.

Metro Renames Hyattsville’s Prince George’s Plaza Station. Goodbye Prince George’s Plaza Metro station; hello Hyattsville Crossing. WMATA ignored its own survey advising against a name change.

The Untold Story Behind a Metal Barrier in North Brentwood. Erected in 1957, a simple metal barrier in North Brentwood marked the dividing line between Black and White communities. It remains there still.
