The Station at Riverdale Park Continues Monthly Curbside Cookout Pop-Up Series

The Station at Riverdale Park is continuing its Curbside Cookout pop-up restaurant through the summer as it prepares to open a new food hall at 4501 Woodberry St.

Together with Hospitality HQ, the company that will run the actual food hall, the Station will host different restaurants in Bear Square each month, at 6621 Baltimore Ave., leading up to the opening.

The next event, featuring an as-yet unnamed vendor, will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 14, and Saturday, May 15. Future Curbside Cookouts will be on June 18-19, July 16-17 and August 13-14.

“We believe these weekend vendor previews will give the Station at Riverdale Park an exciting sneak peek into what our permanent space will have to offer upon opening later this year,” said Hospitality HQ Founding Partner, Chef Akhtar Nawab.

The last Curbside Cookout at the Station in April featured Baltimore-based Asian-fusion eatery Ekiben, Mexican Alta Calidad and Brooklyn BBQ from Wise Meats.  Nawab told the Hyattsville Wire that the restaurants for the pop-up series will change from month-to-month although some may reoccur.

The 8,500-square-foot food hall will house nine vendors, including some “ghost kitchens” which offer delivery-only, a wrap-around bar and seating for more than 175 guests.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the Station’s owners planned to lease the food hall space to separate sit-down restaurants, but that plan was scrapped when eating habits changed dramatically over the last year.

“When the pandemic hit, it quickly became clear that delivery and variety was a priority for consumers, at least in terms of the dining space,” Katie Gantt, marketing director at Calvin Cafritz Enterprises, told a business magazine recently.
