Today’s Hair Reopens College Park Salon Seven Months After Fire

Today’s Hair, a longtime Route 1 establishment, has reopened its salon in College Park seven months after a fire broke out.

On top of the pandemic hurting business, the interior of the salon at 4437 Lehigh Rd. was badly damaged in early February of this year after a fire started on a neighboring roof, leading its hairdressers to work out of local residents’ homes for much of the year.

But owner Pola Kry told the Hyattsville Wire that the salon has been fully restored and they were able to return to the salon in late August, which has been at the same location for 27 years as of next Monday.

“Everything inside is brand new,” she said.

One temporary problem for the salon is the construction going on next door, which has led to nearby parking spaces to be closed off for the time being.

Kry said that customers will need to park at the College Park Shopping Center where the CVS is located or at the city garage behind Ledo’s Pizza.

Today’s Hair is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Meantime, you can still make a donation to a GoFundMe page set up by a longtime customer, which has so far raised more than $27,000 to help the salon get back up and running.
