Meet the Winners of the 2021 Best of Route 1 Reader Poll

The results are in for the fifth annual Hyattsville Wire Best of Route 1 reader poll.

Although the coronavirus pandemic has eased, we kept some of the new categories from the 2020 reader poll to reflect changes in how we live.

But some things never change. For the fifth year in a row, readers named Franklins the best restaurant, although the competition has gotten closer as the Route 1 corridor’s dining scene has grown.

Other five-time winners: Vigilante as the best place to get coffee, OpenBarre as the best fitness studio, ECO City Farms as the best community-supported agriculture, and Kathleen Hellington at Banana’s as the best hair stylist.

But there were also some new entrants. Krazi Kebob, which reopened in a ghost kitchen after it had to move from its longtime location, won best halal restaurant and best place to get curbside pickup.

Readers named Banana Blossom Bistro the best Asian restaurant, Taqueria Habanero the best Latin American restaurant, Pizzeria Paradiso the best pizza and Burton’s Grill and Bar the best place for people with food allergies.
