Riverdale Park’s Riviera Tapas Bar to Move Across the Street

Riverdale Park’s popular Spanish-Mexican fusion restaurant Riviera Tapas Bar will be moving across the street.

Co-owner Patricia Martinez told the Hyattsville Wire that the restaurant will take over the corner spot vacated by Banana Blossom Bistro, which closed when the owner’s family moved to California.

Riviera Tapas Bar first opened in February 2019 in the former S&J bar building and was part of a renaissance for the historic downtown in Riverdale Park.

It will be joined in the new location by Manifest Bread Co., which is opening a full-service bakery this summer; the Gangster Vegan restaurant; Bikram Yoga Works; and Ceci’s Tienda Latina, a Hispanic grocery store.

The town center, which also includes Town Center Market, 2Fifty Texas BBQ and Dumm’s Pizza, is also more pedestrian-friendly at night now, thanks to new lights along the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail leading to the Station at Riverdale Park and Arts District Hyattsville.

The S&J building will be vacant for now and the former location of the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation is still empty.
