New Lights Installed on Hyattsville Portion of Trolley Trail

More lights have been installed along the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail, just in time for the darker months.

Electricity provider Pepco has finished adding new lights to its poles on the Hyattsville portion of the popular walking and biking trail, starting from the Farragut Street trailhead near Franklins north to Riverdale Park.

Lights were already installed from the border with Hyattsville through the historic town center to the Station at Riverdale Park last winter.

The lighting is especially important as more apartments are planned for areas along the trail, which will lead to more daily pedestrian use.

They may also help with safety in general, especially since there has been a wave of incidences of indecent exposure recently around the corridor including an incidence on Friday at the College Park Metro Station and a similar incidence nearby on Saturday off of  Paint Branch Trail near Campus Drive.
