Great Greek Mediterranean Now Open in College Park

A new Greek fast-casual eatery is now open in College Park, offering online ordering and take out with a small indoor seating area.

Part of a chain based in Las Vegas, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill opened last week at 8900 Baltimore Ave., next to Rita’s ice cream shop, and is the first location in Maryland.

“This To-Go model allows us to serve more customers in prime areas like College Park and we’re looking forward to providing healthier new dining options to the community,” said company president Bob Andersen.

The Mediterranean eatery features traditional Greek dishes such as gyros, lamb souvlaki and spanakopita along with a Chipotle-style rice bowl and new options like “feta fries.”

The Grill’s location is a sign of how dense student housing developments on the campus side of Route 1, with the nearby The 9, Tempo, University View and The Varsity giving College Park more of a walkable urban feel.

The eatery joins other Mediterranean food hotspots on the Route 1 corridor, including Cava and taim in College Park and YiaYia’s Kitchen up Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville.
