Big Fish Brings Seafood to miXt Food Hall in Brentwood

The newest tenant at miXt is a fast-casual seafood vendor with Southern influences.

Located inside the food hall at 3809 Rhode Island Ave., Big Fish serves seafood sandwiches such as a blackened grouper burger, an updated po boy sandwich, a Nashville-style fried catfish sandwich and a crab cake sandwich.

The expansive menu also includes salads, rice bowls and fried fish along with sides such as thick-cut fries, hush puppies and Cajun cole slaw.

Owner Val Charles said he was inspired by a line in the director David Lynch’s book on meditation and creativity, “Catching the Big Fish,” in which he says that if you want to catch a big fish you have to go deeper.

“That’s what I want — to elevate the seafood eating experience for my customers while keeping it fun and splashy,” he said.

Big Fish joins The Burger Shop, La Michoacana Mexican food and Flames and Cones pizza as the main vendors at the food hall.
