Le Fantome Food Hall in Riverdale Park Has Closed

The popular Le Fantome food hall in Riverdale Park has closed.

Since its opening in August of 2022, the food hall and ghost kitchen has been home to a rotating selection of popular eateries, including sushi and Korean, hot chicken, Mount Rainier’s J&J Mex Taqueria and James Beard-award winning Mr. Bake Sweets.

“This space has been so much more than just a place to eat — it’s been a home for creativity, community, and countless shared memories,” Le Fantome staff wrote on Instagram. “We’re incredibly grateful to every guest, team member, and vendor who made Le Fantome what it was. Thank you for the love, support, and delicious meals.”

Le Fantome has been part of a growing local restaurant scene, including miXt Food Hall in Brentwood and The Hall CP in College Park, Foodhini and Emma’s Torch Cafe in Woodridge and a number of food trucks.

The food halls are a crucial part of this ecosystem, giving budding restaurateurs a lower-stakes place to try out their concepts and build an audience that’s a step between a food truck and a sit-down restaurant.

Named after the French word for “ghost,” the 8,500-square-foot food hall and ghost kitchen facility was also a draw for the Station at Riverdale Park.

Article doesn’t state why it closed – anyone know?

  2. Jomo says:

    Why did the hall close?

  3. Robert Craig Baum says:

The space was amazing with incredible staff but I’m guessing elevated rents and oftentimes what seemed like a lack of focus on selection (price points higher than neighboring competition) made for an unsustainable business. I hope the owners continue to perfect this model. For the record, I sent in five emails over the last year re: prices and the need for a competitive brunch. Crickets

  4. Joe C. says:

Rumors closing the food hall was a result of a decision First Washington Realty has made. They recently bought the shopping center back in March.

  5. Mark says:

Joe C is correct. Also, it was very poorly managed from day 1.

  6. Ali G says:

We were devastated to arrive and see doors closed. The spot was getting better and better. It was finding itself with returning patrons, that guitarist. Bad decision by the landlord. I say we protest and bring it back! Long live Le Phantome! 👻 crying….

I always found this place expensive for what it was. Our family eats out a few times a week and hits up nearby excellent restaurants like Riviera Tapas Bar, Northwest Chinese, and Cocineros. Whenever I went to Le Fantome, we were paying more for equivalent food with less service. Also, the variable quality of the restaurants that rotated through made me hesitant to try new places. The physical space was phenomenal but on its own couldn’t justify the prices without better food and service.
