New College Park Preschool Opening in February

Founded by the nonprofit Children’s Guild, Monarch Preschool College Park will serve children ages 3 to 5 with a year-round, full-day program focused on hands-on, project-based learning.

The preschool will be located in an 11,400-square-foot renovated space in College Park United Methodist Church at 9606 50th Ave.

It will help meet an intense demand among parents, whose current options include College Park Nursery School and Georgetown Hill Early School in College Park and the Greenwood School in Hyattsville. That complements a similar effort among school-aged children at the College Park Academy to provide more options for local families.

The Children’s Guild named University of Maryland alum Krissie Taylor as director. She has previously worked as director of Heritage Learning Center in Hyattsville and an elementary special education teacher for Prince George’s County public schools.

The preschool also has an advisory board with representatives from the University of Maryland Center for Young Children, College Park Academy and the College Park City-University Partnership.

Registration is now open. For more information, email engage@monarchpreschool.com.
