Franklins restaurant will donate a portion of its proceeds on Tuesday, May 5, to Art Works Now, which has been hit particularly hard due to the pandemic.

The Hyattsville nonprofit suspended its popular children’s arts programs in mid March amid the the coronavirus lockdowns. It has since started virtual classes for children age 2-to-5, 5-to-12, 13-to-17 and 18-plus.

During Tuesday’s fundraiser, 20 percent of pre-tax charges for designated food and beer orders for pickup and general store purchases will be given to Art Works Now, as long as the customer mentions the fundraiser when ordering.

You can also donate directly to Art Works Now through its website or on Donor Box, with recurring monthly donation or through purchases made with Amazon Smile.

“Our organization is on the brink of experiencing many tremendous financial losses and as a result, we have reduced full-time and contracted staff and have reduced our expenses in a number of ways during this difficult time,” the nonprofit wrote earlier.

Despite its own issues, Art Works Now has partnered with Pizzeria Paradiso to donate 10,000 pizzas to the needy during the coronavirus pandemic.
