His & Hers D.C. Opens in Woodridge Serving American Comfort Food

An upscale American comfort food restaurant opened today in the former site of Momo Yakitori at 2214 Rhode Island Ave. NE in Woodridge, D.C.

His & Hers D.C. offers menu options like pecan pear salad, roasted cauliflower, avocado toast, crab-stuffed salmon and Hawaiian ribeye with pureed sweet potatoes and brussel chips, as well as the appropriately named Woodridge burger with grilled onions and arugula.

For breakfast, options include steak and eggs, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles and eggs Benedict made with lox instead of Canadian bacon. The menu doesn’t include any pork and includes several vegan options.

The restaurant is run by Paul Winestock, director of the youth-focused nonprofit Saving Our Next Generation, and his partner, Sheena Alston, a 9/11 first-responder now working as a nurse on the pandemic frontlines at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. This is the couple’s first move into the restaurant business.

Alston developed a drink menu with her son-in-law that features everything from a Moscow Mule made with CBD-infused lavender syrup to a jalapeno-infused tequila drink called the Rhode Island Avenue.

The restaurant has indoor seating upstairs and downstairs and will add outdoor patio seating later this week. Takeout is also available.

His & Hers will be open 6 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, serving breakfast until 11 a.m.; from 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
