Route 1’s Taqueria Habanero Gets Liquor License

Taqueria Habanero, located at the Campus Village Shoppes at 8145 Baltimore Avenue, had its hearing yesterday to receive a liquor license, which was approved, meaning soon the popular College Park restaurant will begin serving alcoholic drinks alongside its authentic Mexican dishes.

The Hyattsville Wire recently caught up with one of the managers who said they would start offering drinks in the next few weeks to complement their full-service restaurant and that all of the drinks at their 14th St NW location in D.C. would be available at their College Park location, including Margarita Classica, Mojitos, Mexican Bloody Mary, and the Habanero Sangria, with the possible addition of some new items.

They also emphasized how, despite obtaining a liquor license, they want to keep the College Park location as a family-friendly establishment with the main focus still being on good food.

Priding itself on house-made ingredients such as corn tortillas made on site daily, Taqueria Habanero was selected for the Michelin Guide D.C. 2020 Bib Gourmands, an award which recognizes mid-priced restaurants. And it was the only Route 1 corridor establishment to win such a recognition with the other being Federalist Pig, which is planning to open a Hyattsville location.

Taqueria Habanero in College Park also just celebrated its one-year anniversary December 17 with a live mariachi band and some free tacos, so it has a lot to raise a glass for all around.
