Hyattsville recording engineer Pete Reiniger won his fourth Grammy Award Sunday for his work on a compilation of Pete Seeger songs.

Reiniger, who has previously won Grammy Awards in the Latin rock, Tejano and historical album categories, received the latest recognition for his work on “Pete Seeger: The Smithsonian Folkways Collection.”

The six-CD album, which comes with a 200-page hardcover book, is designed to be the definitive collection, spanning everything from “We Shall Overcome” to “The Sinking of the Reuben James.”

Reiniger received the award as mastering engineer, while blues and rock historian Robert Santelli and Smithsonian archivist Jeff Place were recognized as compilation producers.

The three beat other historical albums featuring the music of Woodstock, classical pianist Vladimir Horowitz, singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry and ambient musician Kankyo Ongaku.

Reiniger and his wife, Arlene, moved to Hyattsville in 1988. He has a home studio in the Arts District where he has recorded Smithsonian Folkways artists.
